Some interesting hikes in Yosemite National Park
- Half Dome - This is a long day hike (as in 14 hours up and back) which takes you up the back side of Half Dome. On the way you will hike above, below, and along many waterfalls (Vernal Falls and Nevada Falls). The hike is strenuous and you MUST pack plenty of water as there are not good sources along the way. Elevation gain is nearly a mile, and the final ascent is up the back of the rock formation, along a set of wire cables that you may use to keep your footing. On busy days, there may be a significant wait to use these cables since this is a pupular hike. Because of the length of this hike you should plan to start at or slightly before sunrise, and take into account the time of sunset since you do not want to be hiking in the dark (but bring a flashlight anyway).
